What this is
Film Club Aotearoa is a film community for Aotearoa. It introduces people who are starting out to experienced people in the industry for a conversation, and shares work made here. Mentorship conversations are currently offered at no cost. The way Film Club operates may change over time and we'll say so before it does. We are not an employment agency, a casting service or a mentoring programme, and we don't guarantee work, representation or outcomes of any kind.
Membership
Accounts are reviewed by a person before being approved. Give accurate information about yourself and your work. We may decline or remove an account at our discretion, particularly where someone misrepresents themselves or makes the community unsafe.
Conversations
An enquiry is an introduction, not a booking. Mentors choose which enquiries to reply to and may decline or step back at any time. If a mentor replies, the two of you arrange the conversation yourselves — usually online, based around 45 minutes. Turn up when you say you will, and let the other person know if you can't.
Conduct
Treat everyone here with respect. Harassment, discrimination, asking mentors for work, referrals or introductions, recruitment pitches and sales approaches are not permitted and will end your membership. Anything shared in confidence during a conversation stays confidential. Our community guidelines set this out in full.
Advice
What mentors share is their personal experience and opinion, not professional, legal or financial advice. Decisions you make off the back of a conversation are your own.
Your content
You keep ownership of the biography, images and links you give us. You allow us to show them on your profile and in material about the community while your profile is live.
Getting in touch
Questions, complaints or requests to leave the community can go through the contact page. Our privacy policy explains what we do with your information.
