What we collect
When you create an account we collect your email address and the details you give in your application: your name, where you're based, your department and role, your experience level, a short biography and what you hope to learn. Mentors additionally provide their professional experience, selected work, links and an availability note. When you send an enquiry we store your name, email, the mentor you chose and what you'd like to discuss. Contact form messages are stored with the name and email you give.
Why we collect it
We use this information to review applications, to run the community, to build public mentor profiles for approved mentors, and to introduce members to mentors so a conversation can be arranged. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
What is public
Only approved and published mentor profiles are public: name, photograph, department, role, location, biography, selected work, professional links and an availability note. Email addresses, phone numbers and member applications are never shown publicly.
Where it is stored
Data is held in a managed Postgres database with access rules that restrict each person to their own records. Administrators of Film Club Aotearoa can see applications, member records, conversation requests and contact messages in order to run the community.
We email you about your account, your application and any conversation you request. We do not send marketing email.
Your choices
You can ask us to correct or delete your information, or to remove your profile from the site, at any time. Write to us through the contact page and we'll action it.
Changes
Film Club Aotearoa is early and evolving. If this policy changes materially we'll say so on this page.
