Film Club Aotearoa

Become a mentor

Experience is
worth sharing

You've learned things through experience. This is a place to share them.

Film Club Aotearoa is not a marketplace and not a structured mentoring programme. It's a community built around sharing experience: practitioners share what they've learned, others come looking for knowledge, perspective and advice, and everyone has something to learn from someone else.

A conversation can be a single exchange or the beginning of something more. There is no expectation of an ongoing commitment — you say when you're generally open to conversations, and you can step back whenever the work gets busy.

Joining as a mentor doesn't mean you only give. Plenty of members share in one area and learn in another.

Every application is read by a person before anyone appears in the community — nothing is published automatically.

You are not expected to provide employment, referrals, introductions, unpaid work or ongoing private mentoring. Members are told clearly that this is a knowledge-sharing community, not a place to ask for work.

If you ever have a concern about a conversation or a member's behaviour, you can contact us directly. Our community guidelines set out what we expect of everyone.
